Learn how to assign tasks in SharePoint 2010


SharePoint 2010 task lists provides a team with an easy way to manage projects and tasks. If you're a manager you may need to assign tasks to another individual. Learn how to assign a SharePoint 2010 task by watching this quick video.
  1. Navigate to the Task List in the site content side navigation
  2. Click Add New Item
  3. Set a title for the new item
  4. To assign the task, either type the account name or use the Address Book
  5. Set task priority as high, normal or low
  6. Add a description of the task
  7. Specify the start and due dates
  8. When you are finished creating the alert, click Save

A SharePoint 2010 list template is an efficient way to deploy an identical list across a SharePoint implementation. There may be a SharePoint 2010 list that you want to quickly reuse across an organization. Rather than recreate the list every time you want to use it, the SharePoint list can easily be made a template which can be selected whenever creating a new list.
  1. Navigate to the list you want to use
  2. Click List Tab
  3. Click List Settings
  4. Click Save List as Template
  5. Set a file name for the template files
  6. Set a name and description of the template that will be deployed on the Create page
  7. If you want the list’s content included in the template select the Include Content box
  8. SelectOK
  9. When you see the Operation Completed Successfully page click OK
